I'm Sorry! I have been on a blogging break for a bit. I've sewn a whole lot, so I have a bit of catching up to do.
So, without further ado, I bring you the coats.
I must admit, I'm a bit of a sucker for coats. It's quite hilarious, considering I live in Texas. I can't help it; I love coats! I have no idea why I decided that my son (who is 2, so he will grow out of them by next winter) NEEDED 2 coats, but I made them anyway...
because he NEEDED them
After making the coats, We had a bunch of ice storms and a polar vortex (whatever that is). So now I feel justified in the 2 coats I made for him.
First coat is a hybrid of Mccalls 6828 and Simplicity 1477. The body of the coat is the simplicity pattern, the appliques come from the Mccalls pattern. The outer shell is wool felt; the inner portion is plaid shirting. All fabric and notions came from joanns.
The top two buttons are "real" buttons; the bottom three buttons are just for decoration. I added velcro to the bottom part to make it easier for sitting, car trips.
OMG! That Tail! |
The next coat Is a Figgy's Nituna jacket. The outer shell is Black wool, the inner is Enchino blue cars fabric purchased online. I think it supposed to be a girl's coat, but it works great for boys too. I got that idea from right here. Thank you Project Run & Play!
SO cute! Both coats are fantastic but that first one, WOW! GREAT work!

Thank You!!
DeleteI love this! My son totally needs that first jacket and I'm going to need to make a wolf one too. Thanks for including the pattern numbers. I may have to fight my aversion to store bought patterns for this. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh btw, I hope you don't mind but I pinned this. If that's a problem let me know please and I will remove it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! If it makes you feel any better, the simplicity pattern was created in collaboration with the independent designer Little Goodall (she has tons of cute, but pricey, coats on etsy).
DeleteAnd I don't mind at all that you pinned it ;)
that fox/wolf coat is ADORABLE! and the sewing is impeccable!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It took me a long time to finish, but it was well worth it.
DeleteYeah the fox coat is probably the cutest thing I've seen all week! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's my favorite!!
DeleteHAHA !! I totally bought the two fox coat patterns two weeks ago to do the EXACT same thing. You know what they say, great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteYou'll enjoy sewing them! I know I did!
DeleteYou should share photos of the finished product when you're done. I'd love to see them.
Your little man is adorable! I am making the mccall pattern for my soon to be 2 year old grandson. Thanks for the helpful review and super cute photos!
